“We have brought the building into the 21st Century without foregoing its heritage charm,” said Chris White from the architectural firm Marchese+Partners. “It is a modern take on the Deco era; understated elegance with the feel of a comfortable New York lounge.”
Originally constructed in 1925 for the solicitor Harold Minton Taylor, Minton House has been given new life by the acclaimed architects Marchese+Partners. Their purpose-designed refurbishment draws on the building’s art deco heritage while introducing the modern twist of 21st century functionality and design sensibilities.
A contemporary edge has been added to the heritage character through the use of a modern colour palette of warm greys, dark chocolate and charcoal.
Original terrazzo flooring, ceramic tiles, ornate ceilings, cornices and detailed timber work have been retained and restored. So too has the dramatic central staircase, with its wrought iron balustrades and timber hand rails.
All building services have been upgraded, a lift and security system added and each office equipped with individual air-conditioning, an intercom and high speed broadband connection. Most of the 30 studios have kitchenettes, and some have their own bathrooms.
With work studios ranging in size from 11 to 74 sqm, Minton House offers you great flexibility in finding the right studio. Shared facilities, the lobby, stairwell and corridors complete the mix and encourage spontaneous interaction among the like-minded occupants of Minton House.
